#12. MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane) is 3 of 4 things you should have for breakfast every day.

We have written about MSM before in a health tip. I have also recommended it to many. The key to understand is that it is not a drug to be used like aspirin or tylenol. It is part of a healthy lifestyle.

MSM is typically taken by mouth as a pill. Some have suggested that it may be used topically as a lotion, but little data exists regarding that application. A source of organic sulfur, MSM improves your body’s ability to make its own antioxidants. Consider for a moment that regular use, then, supports your body to heal itself and detoxify by combating the normal aging process. As a lifestyle, this means self-healing.

The supplement also benefits bones and joints leading many to praise MSM for treatment of arthritis. It has been suggested as a positive for skin and hair. You will notice a faster growth/renewal cycle. For example, your nails will grow at a faster rate. Many people also report a natural boost in energy.

You may hear about side effects related to MSM. The side effects make sense in the context of the detoxification and increased growth/renewal. Effects like diarrhea, fatigue, headache, bloating, and itching are possible. As with any supplement, or a healthy lifestyle in general, be sure to drink plenty of water.
